02 Jul Case against Maxime Bernier relating to Niagara COVID-19 lockdown protest withdrawn; former West Lincoln mayor’s case adjourned until fall
Provincial offence charges against Maxime Bernier, leader of the People’s Party of Canada, related to a large anti-lockdown rally in Niagara Falls at the height of the pandemic have been dropped.
In Provincial Offences Court in Welland on Tuesday, prosecutor Alexis Fyke requested charges be withdrawn against Bernier as he had recently made a charitable donation to a women’s shelter.
